Dogs are lovable, goofy companions that are about as far from Whitewalkers as possible…so we’ll have to go primarily with aesthetics here! Bull terriers are known as playful, stubborn, devoted, muscular little mischief-makers. Whitewalkers are the infamous, mysterious, fearsome undead that threaten to the destroy the entirety of Westeros. This people-oriented dog thrives when a part of the family to which it is loyal. These dogs are known for being great parents and nannies to both human and canine children. No dog could fit this better than the courageous, loyal, and maternal American Staffordshire Terrier. Nonetheless, the House words, “Family, Duty, Honor” fit perfectly with their fearsome maternal mentality. Both women are fiercely protective of their children, though their maternal practices are far from similar. The two most prominent members of the Tully household, however, are sisters Lysa Arryn and Catelyn Stark. House Tully has a long history amidst the varying house conflicts. House Tully- American Staffordshire Terrier Nobles who strike out on their own to overthrow an unjust king? Basenjis seem to fit the bill. Now how does the Basenji fit here? The AKC describes Basenjis as independent, smart, and poised. Loyal to the crown, Jon Arryn also began raising suspicion of the legitimacy of Cersei Lannister’s children’s claim to the throne. Jon Arryn led the rebellion against the Mad King, after which House Baratheon and Stark followed suit. House Arryn was led by respected noblemen. But there is no doubt that the long, beautiful blonde coat makes the Afghan Hound fit in perfectly with the Targaryens. Perhaps that “coin flip” mentality is translated in the Afghan Hound’s silliness. His children, the determined slave-freer Daenerys and power-crazed Viserys Targaryen, are proof of the saying that “Every time a Targaryen is born the gods flip a coin.” While the Afghan Hound may not go to these extremes, the AKC does describe them as silly, independent, sweet, and beautiful.
House Targaryen has a sordid past, led by who was later known as the Mad King. Bold and confident, the Sheba Inu and Baratheons are one in the same.
Some describe Sheba Inus as stubborn when training, which fits Stannis’ claim which goes from confident to dangerous. Stannis Baratheon is ever-focused on the throne and actively pursues it. How does the adorable Sheba Inu fit in here? The AKC describes Sheba Inus as alert, active, and attentive. Robert’s brother, Stannis, leads House Baratheon’s claim to the throne with unwavering resolve. But after Robert Baratheon’s untimely death, the battle for the Iron Throne heightens to new levels. Game of Thrones all begins with House Baratheon. Between Arya’s fierce athleticism, Bran and Sansa’s intelligence, and each Stark’s liveliness and loyalty, the Dutch Shepherd is the best way to meet your own Stark. The AKC describes the Dutch Shepherds as intelligent, lively, and athletic.
The closest thing to direwolves we have is the Dutch Shepherd Dog. Starks begin the Game of Thrones adventure with the direwolf pups- one for each Stark child. House Stark and House Lannister are the two most prominent houses in Game of Thrones. Not to mention they’re as close to lions as dogs can get, embodying the Lannister lion sigil. Unique in personality and appearance, Chow Chows fit in House Lannister very well. Like House Lannister, Chow Chows are dignified, bright, and serious-minded, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). It is the richest, most powerful family in Westeros and absolutely screams pomp and circumstance…and some questionable life choices/life partners. House Lannister is one of the most prominent in Game of Thrones.
